Our history

What is GAUS

The Scandicci Ufological Academic Group, founded on 21 June 1994, is based in Scandicci (FI) and is a non-political non-profit cultural association whose main purpose is to carry out research and dissemination activities on the phenomenology of unidentified flying objects. . The group was born following the purest associational principles by a group of Florentine boys and today has reached important goals in a frontier discipline that is attracting ever more interest among the various strata of the population. Given the seriousness of the purpose of the Association, the group studies the various aspects of the phenomenon trying to avoid misplaced fantasies, counterproductive for the purposes of real research.
In the field of dissemination, the work of the Association in recent years has been full of initiatives both nationally and internationally. Many themed evenings and conferences were organized at our headquarters or at Tuscan cultural associations. For years we have been guests of the most important conferences on the topic of ufology and the search for life in the universe in Italy and in recent years also abroad. However, the event that distinguishes us more than any other is the International Ufology Conference in Florence which we have been organizing for 20 consecutive years. Thanks also to the patronage of the Tuscany Region, over the years we have addressed the most interesting issues on the subject with appreciation from both the public and the media that follow the event every year. Many were the first level Italian and foreign guest speakers who have alternated over the years.
Still in the field of dissemination, in addition to the creation of DVDs and in-depth articles on the main magazines in the sector, to date he has produced the book "Phoenix's Lights", an investigation into the famous case of mass sighting that took place in Phoenix in 1997 and the book "Ma what GEIPAN ? “, An investigation into the work of the most famous official research center on the UFO phenomenon in the world, by Pietro Marchetti.
The activities of the Association are not only related to disclosure, but are also represented by field investigations following above all reports of private citizens.
In recent years, the activity has focused not only on cases reported in Tuscany, but also on cases in Valmalenco in the province of Sondrio, where for some years many residents have witnessed unusual and inexplicable aerial phenomena.
Considering the importance of verifying the veracity of digital images in the field of ufology, we have also been using consultants outside the Association for some time. In particular, we recently subjected some digital photographic images received from witnesses to a forensic investigation, highlighting surprising results that represent for our Association the way to operate in compliance with the principles of objectivity and seriousness that have always distinguished us.
The association actively collaborates with independent researchers and national and international associations.

History
